The annual definitive series, 'Sommer 2022'

In 2022 the Österreichische Post AG philatelic department again released its annual series of two designs for the printing of variable value stamps; a definitive series featuring floral themes issued in early January ('Sommer'), and a series with winter illustrations at the beginning of November ('Winter'), for use in its philatelic kiosks over the Christmas season.

The 'Sommer 2022' series depicts two new designs by Tristan Fischer, the sunflower ('Sonnenblume') and the rowan berry ('Vogelbeere').

The rolls of gummed labels were manufactured and offset printed by Royal Joh. Enschedé. Every 5th label has a 4-digit number preprinted on the back to indicate the number of labels remaining on the roll.

The first three scheduled imprints (PHILATELIE.SHOP, SONDERPOSTAMT & VÖPH) were available from the four Inform philatelic kiosks permanently installed at philatelic shops in Vienna (Philatelie Shop - Post am Rochus and Philatelie Ost), Graz (Philatelie Mitte/West) and Steyr (Philatelie Mitte/West).
Other special imprints, commemorating the main philatelic events and scheduled throughout the year, were obtainable at these kiosks several days before the date of the event, and also directly from the philatelic service stand at each of the exhibitions.

The Christmas issues, the 'Winter 2022' series

Tristan Fischer's two new designs for the special Christmas series ('Winter 2022') features snowy mountains ('Bergspitze'), and an ice skating scene ('Schlittschuhlauf').

The six imprints programmed for these designs were obtainable from the four Inform philatelic kiosks permanently installed in philatelic shops in Vienna (Philatelie Shop - Post am Rochus and Philatelie Ost), Graz (Philatelie Mitte/West) and Steyr (Philatelie Mitte/West). In addition, Österreichische Post AG set up another two temporary kiosks at seasonal post offices in Christkindl and Oberndorf bei Salzburg.

The Austrian postal administration increased the postage rates on October 1st 2022. The new basic tariffs are 1.00 - 1.20 - 1.90 EUR for priority domestic, Europe and rest of the world mail, respectively.
